Kayo is a graduate student at NYU Steinhardt. As a Fulbright grantee, she is working towards completing her MA of Media, Culture, and Communication.

After working as a journalist at Kyodo News Agency in Japan, Kayo has been a freelance writer and a translator since 2016, writing about online mis- and dis-information as well as media literacy.

She is also an active member of the Japan Center of Education for Journalists (JCEJ), an organization dedicated to providing training and networking opportunities for journalists and researchers. At JCEJ, she led projects for the translation of journalists’ guides including “A journalist’s guide to working with social sources” and “Afield guide to fake news and other information disorders“.

She was also a staff reporter at Japanese news agency Kyodo News, covering financial markets, business, trade and nuclear energy.

She graduate from Ritsumeikan University in 2008 with BA in international relations.
